Ride over Krossá

This is a ride is through the most dangerous glacier river that needs to be crossed to get to Húsadalur where the race ends. This ride is only recommended for local spectators who have large 4WD vehicles and have experience crossing glacier rivers. 


Please be advised that there are several other glacier rivers on the way which CANNOT be crossed by rental cars, even if they are 4WD. The rental cars are not ensured if the water causes damages. Therefore, people who do not have their own 4WD vehicles should use the busses. Spectators who wish to celebrate competitors at the finish line are advised to book the roundtrip race bus from Reykjavík or the roundtrip from Skógar (the start) if they drive to Skógar themselves.

Roundtrip from Skógar for Spectators

Spectators who drive to Skógar can take the race bus from there across to Húsadalur to welcome the competitors, and then catch a ride back to Skógar at the end of the race.

The bus will depart from Skógar shortly after the race begins, around 9:30 AM.

The bus from Húsadalur will depart around 2:00 PM, provided it can be filled, and the next bus will leave between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM.

This fare includes the roundtrip.
