Rules for the race



  1. The terms regarding registration, refunds, etc. can be found on the race registration page. By registering for the race, participants agree to the race's terms and commit to adhering to its rules. Participants must follow the instructions provided by the race staff, including recommendations on clothing and equipment.
  1. Age Restrictions: There is no age limit for the fun run. For the 10 km race, participants must be 16 years old during the year of the event. For the 21 km race, participants must be 18 years old during the year of the event.
  1. Time Limits: There are no time limits for the fun run and the 10 km race. However, there will be time limits for the 21 km race, which are set with the runner's safety and course marshal organization in mind. To meet the time limits, runners must pass drink station no. 2 (approximately 13 km with an accumulated elevation gain of 620 meters from the start) within 2 hours and 30 minutes after the start. If a runner does not meet the time limits, they will be considered to have finished the race and will be offered a ride back to Vík Village. This rule applies to all participants, and no alternative arrangements can be made with staff on-site.
  1. It is strictly forbidden to discard trash, clothing, or equipment along the course. Runners must bring their own cups or bottles to use at the drink stations. Disposable paper cups will not be provided at the drink stations.
  1. Participants must display their race number clearly on the front at waist height to facilitate and speed up registration. In order to receive a recorded time and for safety reasons, all participants must cross the timing mats at the starting line, at checkpoint locations, and at the finish line.
  1. It is prohibited to accept assistance from anyone who is not a registered participant in the race, except in emergencies. It is the responsibility of each participant to refuse external assistance unless it is an emergency. It is also the responsibility of each participant not to run with an unauthorized runner (herd). Participants may assist other runners, keeping in mind their own safety and the safety of others.
  1. Penalties: Participants who do not follow the race rules may be disqualified from the race.
  1. The organizers reserve the right to alter the course, cancel the race, or change the start time with short notice due to weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances, with the safety of participants as the priority. In such cases, the participation fee will not be refunded.
  1. The organizers reserve the right to require certain mandatory equipment that a runner must carry, depending on the conditions and weather on race day.
